Carrera Marble?! Sure! Perfect! I love it! Oh wait… I have three kids under the age of 5. Grape juice, anyone? One of the biggest drawbacks with marble is the fact that it can stain because it’s very porous. OK, I’ll rethink this one. Sure, there are different types of marble that are easier to maintain or you just seal it. Simple. For some reason, I don’t think sealing it will really be that simple. I don’t want to worry about this. I’m already worried about the kids jumping up and down on the living room couch and knocking over a lamp… or ending up in the Emergency Room. I’m turning to white granite. The slab above is white granite and not marble. Part of me doesn’t want to choose granite because it is so popular but maybe there is a good reason. What do you think about substituting a material that you absolutely love for something that fits better in your lifestyle?
This is a great example of why it’s good to do your research before committing to renovations, upgrades, etc. And sometimes it’s hard to find a good substitute. So I think that’s great you’re going to use granite. There are lots of choices – beautiful choices – for granite countertops!
Granite definitely has its positives. As long as the material is made from quality and looks gorgeous… then I’m in!
